The importance of overcladding the roof and walls of an industrial or commercial building that incorporates asbestos has come sharply into focus because of the recent update in asbestos regulations.
The Control of Asbestos Regulations (2010) is now simplified and focus on two types of asbestos survey. They are the Maintenance survey and the Demolition/Refurbishment survey. All companies need to comply with the new regulations and penalties are harsh if they don’t.
Here at Wirral Cladding and Roofing we are able to encapsulate any chrysotile asbestos roof so that the asbestos dust that would naturally occur in the workplace ( because of roof movement etc), is totally eradicated. We achieve this by overcladding using an ashgrid system. We overclad the roofs or walls using a single skin profile cladded system. The benefits of encapsulating the asbestos roof (or walls) in this way are several.
We do not remove the roof so there are huge cost savings in not having to use hazardous waste management contractors. We simply overclad and underline the factory roof and walls. The savings – compared to removing the roof and reconstructing it – are up to 60%.
Alongside this are the huge savings in time because of lack of disruption to factory operations.
Once this overcladding procedure is completed, the need to manage the asbestos roof is eliminated.
